There are two docks, one for the old T2x and A2x thinkpads and one for
the T4x and X3x laptops.  make sure you get the right one.  All of the
devices and the PCI slot in the dock are usable.  You used to have to
boot the thinkpad in the dock to use the dock devices, but newer
kernels have docking hotplug support.
