(I ran Ubuntu on a T42 and now I run Ubuntu on a T61, so my advice will
be based on generic rather than specific experience.)

Yes. It shouldn't need any special configuration, just Driver "intel",
and it should Just Work.

If it doesn't work, I suggest upgrading to a newer driver version. The
simplest way of doing that, in my opinion, is upgrading the whole
distribution to something more modern. I don't use Fedora, but I see
that the last release was Fedora 7 from 2007-05-31, so Fedora Core 4
sounds quite old.

Fn-Home/End should work.

Probably some desktop search engine indexing all your files. If it
doesn't stop after a few hours, I'd start investigating.

Fn-F4 should work for sleep, Fn-F12 for hibernation. I'd also expect a
logout menu to give an option.

Doesn't it Just Work out of the box? Try a more modern distribution.

Knowing the model of your wireless card would help.

Cheers!
