Hi Jim, I replaced the hinges on my T41p and it was straightforward.
Took me at least a couple of hours.

I'd second Chris' suggestions. The hardware repair manual was up on my
girlfriend's laptop nearby. Do keep the screws organized.

The #4 screws seems to need a special Torx screwdriver with a dimple
in the middle. I'd try to find one first (anyone have a recommendation
of where to find these?); otherwise, use good pressure and angle the
screwdriver to get purchase however you can.

Since a fresh set of covers was included with my hinges, I just poked
my covers with an awl and lifted them off. A very small eyeglass
screwdriver or perhaps a razor blade might help remove them without
damage if you need to reuse them.

Have fun!
