Thanks, that's exactly it. Doesn't recognize DVD-Rs (hence Fedora), but i
managed to get it to boot from a CD-R with Ubuntu. Now installed.

Old Toshiba DVD drives only support DVD-ROMs, they cannot read DVD-R,
DVD+R or any rewritable DVD.&nbsp; What you need is a multi-reader DVD
drive, which can read all types of DVD media.&nbsp; Better yet, get yourself
a DVD multi-burner.<br>

Regarding booktyping, it seems to me that upon closing a DVD+R, you can
fake its ID so that old DVD readers recognize it as a DVD-ROM.<br>
