My 2c - I have owned both machines and actually returned the X60 (after 
two replacements) and am now using the X60s (1702-4EA) and can honestly 
say that this is a better buy.

My reasons are better battery life, less Linux issues, cooler operation, 
and a slightly lighter machine, at almost no perceivable difference in 
performance.
