Hmm, well, I tried downgrading the BIOS to 2.07 again - and: everything
stays the same. No delay between brightness key and brightness change,
the same thing with the hotkeys. Exactly the same like with 2.11. I have
really no idea was is going on here. I also tried restoring my BIOS to
default settings - still no change.

Maybe the ACPI tables weren't downgraded?

Yep.

Which one of these?
[ 1.160000] input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input0
[ 16.108000] input: ThinkPad Extra Buttons as /class/input/input1
[ 16.988000] input: PC Speaker as /class/input/input2
[ 18.400000] input: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint as /class/input/input3
[ 22.600000] input: hdaps as /class/input/input4
[ 36.276000] input: Power Button (FF) as /class/input/input5
[ 36.304000] input: Lid Switch as /class/input/input6
[ 36.320000] input: Sleep Button (CM) as /class/input/input7

I tried input0 and input1 - nothing. The only keys (in conjunction with
fn, of course) that give a feedback are KEY_BACK and KEY_FORWARD above
the cursor keys, and KEY_STOPCD, KEY_PREVIOUSSONG, KEY_PLAYPAUSE and
KEY_NEXTSONG with Fn+cursor keys.
