I tried thinkpad acpi version 0.15 on my new X61s.

[ 24.528000] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.15
[ 24.528000] thinkpad_acpi: http://ibm-acpi.sf.net/
[ 24.528000] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad BIOS 7NET24WW (1.05 ), EC
7MHT24WW-1.02
[ 24.528000] thinkpad_acpi: Lenovo ThinkPad X61s
[ 24.528000] thinkpad_acpi: radio switch found; radios are enabled

root@xwing:/proc/acpi/ibm# cat driver
driver: ThinkPad ACPI Extras
version: 0.15

What is working:
bluetooth, leds

brightness is extremely buggy ?!? If video acpi module is loaded nothing
works, sometimes level 1 und level 7 seem to work, but xbacklight is doing a
better job here.

thermal:
root@xwing:/proc/acpi/ibm# cat thermal
temperatures: 46 51 51 41 38 -128 38 -128 47 43 -128 -128 -128 -128 -128
-128

fan
root@xwing:/proc/acpi/ibm# cat fan
status: enabled
speed: 3817
level: auto
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-7, auto, disengaged, full-speed)
commands: enable, disable
commands: watchdog <timeout> (<timeout> is 0 (off), 1-120 (seconds))

This little thing is extremely loud ;-) i had an R40 before and nearly never
heard the fan.

root@xwing:/proc/acpi/ibm# cat ecdump

After updating the bios version to 1.05 (not a very good idea) the hotkeys
stopped working at all :-(

root@xwing:/proc/acpi/ibm# cat /etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.modprobe
options thinkpad_acpi hotkey=enable,0xff9f experimental=1 fan_control=1

this is on ubuntu feisty with gutsy kernel, intel xorg driver from gutsy and
alsa had to be patched in order to make sound.

wireless is working with the iwlwifi project, but only with the 8 version of
mac80211

Suspend to ram is working without problem, even with wireless loaded. Just
had to add acpi_sleep stuff to boot loader und i am using POSTVIDEO from
vbetools
