[ltp] how to make the machine standby or hibernate

Hello,

I use Thinkpad T43, and install Debian on it.
Before I installed the driver of the video card provided by ATI, the 
machine can standby(using several commands) and hibernate(using 
suspend2) very well.
Now I decide to install the video card driver, and the way I used before 
to make my machine standby and hibernate can't work any longer.
Does anyone make the machine standby or hibernate successfully after 
installing the card driver?
