It's all over the ThinkPad forum (forum.thinkpads.com). As for Lenovo,
it used to plainly state this on the ordering page, but of course now
you can't buy a T60 or T60p.

There is also a document which I can't find that oddly states that some
T60's max out at 3GB and some at 4GB. The data sheet for the chipset
seems to imply that 3.something GB is the most usable with a 32-bit OS.

Let's resort to the BOOK:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitute/psref/tabook.pdf

On page 71 is this note:

                         "31 Maximum memory capacity may
require the replacement of standard
component with largest supported com-
ponent available. On ThinkPad systems
with an Intel 945GM, 945PM, GM965, or
PM965 chipset, even though it is pos-
sible to physically install 4GB of memory,
the actual amount of memory address-
able by an operating system will be lim-
ited to 3GB. This limitation does not exist
with the Intel GM965 and PM965 with
the 64-bit operating systems Windows
XP Professional 64-bit and Windows Vista
64-bit Editions."

The T60 uses 945GM or 945PM.
