Hi,

There is a problem with the trackpoint buttons, indeed. In a comment on
bugzilla, I wrote that they seem to be bound to the touchpad rather than to
the trackpoint. But that doesn't explain why you can't fully use them with
the touchpad...

Another issue is the alps driver preventing the trackpoint driver to handle
the trackpoint when the touchpad is enabled in bios (and also preventing
wheel emulation, thus turning the trackpoint into a useless device). By the
way Ugo, you really should try the trackpoint with the trackpoint driver (i=
e
no touchpad enabled), I find it very easy to use and more intuitive than
when it's driven by the generic ps/2 driver.

Anyway, the alps.readme in the synaptics driver files will give you a
complete example configuration for your touchpad in xorg.conf.

I don't know if these problems are independent or linked. I guess that in
some way, the alps dualpoint driver doesn't separate the touchpad and the
trackpoint properly. The fact that both the trackpoint and touchpad can be
handled by their respective drivers gives me hope for a quick solution :).

The bug on bugzilla.kernel.org has not been reopened since my last comment,
3 weeks ago. Will it be appropriate to open a new bug or is there an
explicit way to ask for reopening ?

Thanks.

S=E9bastien, yet another R61 owner
