Those had a power output cutoff switch, then... or no proper protection
fuses (which is unlikely on laptop battery packs).  Hmm, maybe the thinkpad
ones do have a cutoff switch, then.

But my T43 Li-poly battery once got very deeply discharged while on storage,
and it was not reading 0V.  It needed more than 20 minutes inside the bay
before the error condition cleared (yellow battery led blinking at 1Hz 50%
duty switched to non-blinking yellow) and it started charging, though.  And
the charge to 100% took a lot longer than usual.
