No, both can peacefully coexist, at least with Radeon 7500 (I had
exactly the same video card in a T42).

I once even ran 'modprobe radeonfb' from an xterm, expecting video
driver confusion, and was surprised when nothing bad happened.

Good point.  Ubuntu didn't load any other framebuffer drivers for me so
I could just modprobe radeonfb at any point.  If Fedora defaults to
something like vesafb, this might not work.

But it's simpler to try the modprobe and see if it would work for you.
Faster than recompiling a kernel.
