That would be the SATA support. If you ever need to, then enable "Legacy 
IDE mode" for the disk controller in the BIOS.

Is XP still using FAT32? That has a 4GB per file limit.

In general, if you have a fast internet connection, you're best off to 
only download the first CD of the installer, and then install a minimal 
system; after that, install the extra packages using apt/yum.

This is actually quicker, since you don't end up downloading the 
packages which you don't install, just to burn onto CD, but never use.

Doesn't the Fn-HOME and Fn-END key combination work? This is controlled 
by the BIOS, not by ACPI. Otherwise, you want to look at 
/proc/acpi/ibm/brightness

As for wireless, look in thinkwiki.org.
