Thank you for the reply. Suspend worked with .5watts on 2.6.17 and
2.6.18 kernels. With later kernels radeonfb is not being loaded. Below
is a trace of resume. It appears agpgart (intel_agp) is being used in
place of radeon. Does this make sense?

Check the dmesg for radeonfb messages about entering the D2 sleep state.
If there's no such message, then your video isn't fully powered off.
Perhaps your particular model isn't in the radeonfb whitelist and you
need to modprobe radeonfb with force_sleep=1.
