If you have compared Lenovo to another brand, please share: why did
you make the decision you made? I realise that people on this list by
and large ended up deciding to go Lenovo... please tell us why!

Sorry, my employer blocks personal smtp mail.
T61 is a big advance over the T40 I used for over 4 years, until
the fan bearings froze. It's a little weak on battery life, particularly
on x86-64, which I prefer in spite of that.
My colleagues are unanimous in preferring Lenovo over the HP laptops (the
only other brand permitted for work here).I had to buy an 802.11g access
point, lacking 64-bit support for 802.11b on 4965AGN, a small price to pay
for progress.
I don't know anyone running a pre-installed linux on a laptop; even the
Ubuntu fans install it themselves rather than buy Dell. I doubt Dell support
64-bit. My wife's Dell laptop hardware has been trouble free for 5 years,
so I can say Dell has exceeded my personal expectations.
