What sort of problems are you having?  Make sure you are running an
xrandr 1.2 enabled version of the ati driver (6.7.19x or 6.8.0 or
newer).  Also, the default virtual desktop size may not be large
enough to hold the full dualhead desktop.  You may need to add a
Virtual line to the display subsection of the screen section of your
xorg config.
