I've just upgraded my T42 Zenwalk installation to a 2.26.25 kernel. Seems
to be working well, but I'm getting quite a long pause during boot. It
comes just after this message appears:
Marking TSC unstable due to: TSC halts in idle.
I had similar pauses during boot when I first switched to a 2.24.2 kernel,
but got round them by adding 'acpi_osi="Linux" and clocksource=acpi_pm to
the Grub command. I've still got both of those in place, but it no longer
seems to help. I also tried adding 'notsc' to Grub, that that seems to have
made no difference at all.
Are there any other options I can use to try and get round the pause during
boot? Its a bit of a pain on a laptop....
paul.
