Sorry, to jump in and divert this thread, but could you try and add some
X200s data to http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Idle_consumptions ?

I'm really interested in buying this X200s thingy, but I'd first like to
see what kind of consumption I can hope to get out of it.

BTW, this may also be relevant to your fan problem: a good way to reduce
fan noise is to reduce heat output, i.e. reduce power consumption.
