[ltp] T42 with 2.6.27.7 kernel - system clock too fast

Since I upgraded to Slackware 12.2 with a 2.6.27.7 kernel I'm finding the
system clock gains rougthly 2 minutes every 10 minutes or so. Has anyone
come across this before and know of a fix?

I've googled a bit about fast system clocks and found some kernel boot
parameters mainly to do with apic or acpi but nothing I've tried has made
any difference:

noapic
nolapic
apci=off
acpi=noirq
no_timer_check
disable_timer_pin_1
