stealing your thinkpad needs some force to rip out the kensington
lock. so maybe you can use hdaps with reasonable settings to alert
you, e.g., via wlan or even a sms if you equip the machine with a umts
card. furthermore, you may also be able trigger some kind of "quick data
erase" to delete your private data on the thinkpad. but then, the
hdaps settings for "theft detection" should be *really* reasonable.
