[thinkpad] [ltp] Strange LCD issue

FWIIW: I had similar experience with T20 but not so heat sensitive.
Repositioning the lid (LCD screen) more open or closed would restore
normal operation. It got so that the position of the lid was critical.
Replacing the signal cable from the system board to the LCD screen
repaired it. I found a place in Fort Lauderdale that sold new Thinkpad
parts (actual IBM parts) and replaced it for around $25. The maintenance
manual procedure indicated that the complete LCD assembly, including the
lid itself, had to be removed but that was not really necessary. Some
also suggested reseating that cable, but I had to replace it. I also
replaced the plastic keyboard bezel, which cost more than the cable...
go figure.
