Well, I don't. I just have the minimal (hopefully) support for IDE in
the kernel to be able to read CF cards from my digital camera. My disk
is recognised as /dev/sda, the cdrom is /dev/sr0. So apparently the ide
stuff does not kick in here, as is intendet.
