Hi people,
I have recently upgraded from a T20 to a T61p which has enabled me to go
back to Gentoo (compile times were atrocious on the T20).
I have updated the DMI page with data from my laptop, and would be
interested in helping get ACPI and HDAPS working. I am using the gentoo
ebuild for amd64:
[ I] app-laptop/tp_smapi (0.33): IBM ThinkPad SMAPI BIOS driver
and have enabled module support for HDAPS in my kernel.
The tp_smapi module loads fine, but ACPI is quite broken as far as suspend,
function keys etc go. The hdaps module does not load..
t61p ~ # modprobe hdaps
FATAL: Error inserting hdaps
(/lib/modules/2.6.23-gentoo-r3/kernel/drivers/hwmon/hdaps.ko): No such
device
t61p ~ # dmesg | tail -n 2
hdaps: supported laptop not found!
hdaps: driver init failed (ret=-19)!
This is because the source (hdaps.c) checks the model numbers and
specifically says t61p not supported, but I cannot find out why this is so.
If someone can assist with getting the module to load, would be happy to
help solve any / all problems with my model. The thinkpads are too good a
platform not to run linux!
