That is indeed the disk.
I'm actually using a 160GB Seagate disk in another T43,
and this gives the same warning.
There is a beep, and a warning;
but then the machine goes into the usual boot cycle,
and works fine.
Is there any way of getting rid of the beep?
It doesn't really worry me, but it would be slightly nicer if it didn't occur.
