I have a ThinkPad R52 with a Ricoh Co Ltd R5C552 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev =
08)=20
built in - no problems here with Ubuntu 8.04. Used it with a Samsung MiniDV=
=20
Camcorder a few days ago (fetching the video data with Kino).=20
Module "raw1394" and "dv1394" is loaded when plugging the camcorder in.
You could open a terminal and type:
lspci | grep -i firewire
This should give you detailed info about the built in firewire hardware!
