Check out
$ man pm-suspend
and try different quirk modes described there (most probably
--quirk-s3-mode or --quirk-s3-bios). When you find the one (or more)
that gets your system suspended, then you can enter by hand your model
information to:
/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/20-video-quirk-pm-lenovo.fdi
That's how I got it to work, don't know if there is a simpler solution.
