I am getting rock-solid performance with this same card (built in wireless)
under hardy on a A31.
The only difference that I can see ( from yours) is that I'm using wpasuppl=
icant (tkip).
This may be because ( I think ) that wpas locks the card to channel 6.
Note I may be wrong about this.

IMHO hardy is the best yet where laptop wireless is concerned.
Now if they would just fix ( or document )the xorg mess.....
