This is defenitely not true.
It is working as it did in gutsy before - without any issues.
I use it at home (WPA), at university (vpnc plugin) and on an other computer
for wired connection.
What are the problems you are having?

PS: If it does not see any devices check /etc/network/interfaces to only
include the lo device
