I just did a clean Hardy installation and installed ndiswrapper
for the Atheros wireless[1].
I was using madwifi before so it took me a while to realize I needed
to flip the little switch on the front of the laptop to enable
wireless (didn't need to do that with madwifi).
So, scanning my AP I see this:
Cell 01 - Address: 00:09:5B:B3:C7:18
ESSID:"hanklan"
Protocol:IEEE 802.11g
Mode:Managed
Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1)
Quality:37/100 Signal level:-72 dBm Noise level:-96 dBm
Encryption key:on
Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s
9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s
48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
Extra:bcn_int=100
Extra:atim=0
IE: WPA Version 1
Group Cipher : TKIP
Pairwise Ciphers (1) : TKIP
Authentication Suites (1) : PSK
And according to dmesg[2] it seems like I should support PSK.
Yes, when I try to connect to the access point Network Manager
is only offering "LEAP" as the possible wireless security option.
Is it because the AP's WPA version is 1, and I only have WPA2PSK
listed below?
Pointers to resolve this?
Thanks,
