[ltp] Failing T23

An old T23 of mine has the following problem:
When I re-boot it I am usually asked
for the current date and time in the BIOS.
On giving these and pressing F10 the machine re-boots.

In addition, I have to press the bottom of the machine
under the hard disk to successfully re-boot.

Is it possible to diagnose the fault,
and offer an opinion on the future health of the machine
from this information?

I have installed a new CMOS battery in the machine,
but that didn't solve the problem.
