Hello Tino
I have been running tpfand for 3 years on my X60, and it is still
running without complaints. Fans only active during loads or operation
in heated environments. My GPU constantly resides around 55°C and CPU
around 60°C - this makes the unit rather warm, which is a little
unpleasant, but it's ok.
Recently installed a SSD instead of the old ATA disk. Although this only
has a slight effect on overall system temperature. It significantly
decreased the noise. Now I can operate it without it making any noise,
except from the occasional fan humming, during the high loads (ca. 20
sec intervals).
I know this is excactly what you said, you did not want to hear, but you
should really consider trying tpfand :)
