[ltp] x startup issues

You didn't specify which nvidia driver package you are using. I had
similar issues running Debian/unstable (sorry, can't distinguish between
these rather unspecific "cute" release names) on a T61-64607EU.
The issue was completely solved by simply switching to the
nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx driver package, instead of using the standard
nvidia-glx package.
Does this solve your issue?
