Hi,

I'm new to the list. So let me tell you a little about me. I'm an IT
student in Hamburg, Germany and own a Thinkpad X61 (7676-A14) since
February 2008, running Ubuntu 9.04 on it. Very happy with it, but I wish
I had UMTS and could do my emails while riding the train to school ;)

I checked and I do have a SIM card slot next to my ram slot but no WWAN
card, cables or antenna. So I wondered how to upgrade my laptop to do
so.

What I found out so far:
- I got to buy and install a WWAN card, antenna and antenna cables. I
found instructions on how to install those in the Maintenance Manual.
- I need to remove the simlock if I want to use it with another provider
than vodafone. I saw the instructions on how to do that on thinkwiki.org

My questions are:
- Which FRU numbers do the parts I need have? There is a huge abundance
of similar parts and even after reading the Maintenance Manual I'm not
sure which ones to use. I was really confused by the Lenovo hotline (The
German one) because the lady told me all I need to buy is a WWAN card.
But what about the antenna and wires? Are they coming with the card?
Those are the part numbers I believe I need to buy, please verify or
correct them if you can:

WWAN card: 42T0931
Antenna: 42X3939
Cable: 93P4388

- I looked up those parts on google shopping and found some offers
summing up to US$685 ($575 for WWAN, $55 for cable and antenna each).
Could that possibly be about the right price? It seems so way
overpriced! Where do you get your replacement parts?

Thanks in advance :)
