The only supported versions are the lastest ones, it is that simple.
The version the driver thinks you should use is the latest that was
available when I wasted a few hours tracking them all. It only complains
about thinkpads that do not get any more 'enhancement' firmware updates,
anyway, so there is no excuse. I review that list every once in a while.

Yes, you can. Use DOS floppies, or a bootable cdrom. But if you want to
ship it to IBM just for a firmware upgrade, well, it is your thinkpad and
your money :)

would have told you outright if you had bothered to ask instead of opening a
