[ltp] no color: tv-out on R51 with radeon 7500

after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 the tv-out only displayes black and white.

"xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1" gives me

X Error of failed request:  BadName (named color or font does not exist)

  Minor opcode of failed request:  11 (RRQueryOutputProperty)
  Serial number of failed request:  29

and

I have also tried "atitvout detect" which says:

CRT is attached.
TV is attached via S-Video.

I would appreciate any hints.
