Has anybody ventured to install linux on the T410s? Well, I tried, and so f=
ar the state is as follows:

1. There was circulating a workaround for the sound problem, but with kerne=
l 2.6.35-rc2 this problem does no longer exist, even the FN+volume up/down =
keys now work correctly.

2. Tuxracer freezed with the original Ubuntu kernel (maybe because due to s=
witching from integrated to discrete graphics).=A0 With the=A0 2.6.35-rc2 k=
ernel, it works either way (that is, regardless of corresponding BIOS setti=
ng).=A0 However, the best results are obtained if I set "integrated graphic=
s" and "no switchable" in the BIOS.=A0 Also, it seems that the machine stay=
s also cooler in that way.=A0 However, i did not succeeded with Alien Arena=
, it gives just a black screen.=A0 And tuxracer behaves choppy with "discre=
te graphics" - perhaps the kernel drivers are not optimal for the NVida 310=
0m

3. WLan, brightness keys work.=A0 I did not test bluetooth, fingerprint, th=
ough.

4. The only thing I do not like is that the fan seems to be decoupled from =
the temperature sensor, and constantly runs on about 4000/min.=A0=A0 The ib=
m-acpi/fan is immune to any change (despite of "thinkpad_acpi fan_control=
=3D1" and "thinkpad_acpi experimental=3D1")
 - there is no way to change the level, nor fan speed.

Does anyone know whether the fan is actually controlled by some XUbuntu dem=
on (in this way it is conceivable that any change to "ibm-acpi/fan" is ins=
tantaneously overwritten by the demon).

Best,=20

Matthias
