It is dangerous. It will turn off nearly every safeguard against
overheating, only the last resort protections will remain and they all
cause data loss and will trigger only when things are so dire that you
could already have damaged something in the planar card.
In a box that is already crashing, it is NOT something one should EVER
suggest someone to do. What if the box is crashing because its thermal
sinks are going bad?
Do NOT turn ACPI off on any Lenovo ThinkPad. Do NOT run a Lenovo
ThinkPad without the "thermal" and "processor" ACPI drivers.
