I wasn't aware that the proprietary driver was more stable; I was used
to the ATI world where the open-source driver was very high-quality and
the proprietary driver was flaky.  Anyway, I've switched to the
proprietary NVidia driver and everything seems to be OK thus far, and
suspend even still works.
