And now my question:
I have an x61s with Fedora 13. The fan started to do very bad noises from
some weeks to now. More recently the fan rpm indicator stopped to work
(always zero value). I wanted to think this could be some kind of runtime
module error (I have the thinkpad_acpi loaded) so finally rebooted and got
the infamous "fan error". Followed instructions in ThinkWiki I cleaned the
fan dust with pressured air. Rebooted again and got still the fan error. The
good news is the fan is still running and seems to be smoother. My diagnose
is the fan rpm detector has died.
So, I suppose the better thing should be to replace the FRU. Am I right?
And, any suggestion of where to buy the new one?
Any tip would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
