To reply to myself, this turned out to be a general problem with the
Fedora 15 NetworkManager service, and not specific to the 4965AGN.
Solution is to remove or rename
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg_Auto* and re-start NM; it will
recreate one(s) for your access points. (Format of the files apparently
changed in the upgrade and NM testers didn't verify the new release
would do the right thing with old versions of these files.)
