Duh!  After having failed using it for my T60, I didn't expect this
to work.  I did try it briefly and it failed, confirming my suspicion.
But I must have done something wrong back then.
I just tried it again and it worked beautifully:
- download the bios image.
- put it in /boot/memdisk/foo.img
- aptitude install grub-imageboot
- reboot & enjoy
