Thank you - there is an entry "/etc/acpi/lidbtn" which calls the script  
"/etc/acpi/lid.sh".
49 lines. And 3 sourced scripts. Looks like a text adventure.

It allows to run first a self made script "/etc/acpi/local/lid.sh.pre",  
and then it makes something in the X world.
But it's not really self explaining.
