Hello,
I am using a T410s with Debian Wheezy/Sid on self-compiled kernel
2.6.38 and a nice little daemon called =E2=80=98thinkfan=E2=80=99.
It basically sets the appropriate level in /proc/acpi/ibm/fan.
0 16:05 0 ares:~ # cat /proc/acpi/ibm/fan=20
status: enabled
speed: 1993
level: 1
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-7, auto, disengaged, full-speed)
commands: enable, disable
commands: watchdog <timeout> (<timeout> is 0 (off), 1-120 (seconds))
0 17:05 0 ares:~ # cat /etc/thinkfan.conf
[=E2=80=A6]
# Syntax:
# (LEVEL, LOW, HIGH)
# LEVEL is the fan level to use (0-7 with thinkpad_acpi)
# LOW is the temperature at which to step down to the previous level
# HIGH is the temperature at which to step up to the next level
# All numbers are integers.

So far, everything seems to be fine and has been fine for the last
few months. Temperature is usually between 35-45=C2=B0C when idling and
between 50=C2=B0C and 60=C2=B0C when doing some serious work. While compili=
ng a
kernel (or simply running burnP5 four times), it may reach up to
80=C2=B0C, albeit without any obvious problems such as instability.
I=E2=80=99ll happily provide you with further information such as my kernel
configuration (nothing special) or my cpufreqd configuration.
Best regards,
Claudius
