Hey,

I have a T61 (8897-CTO, the 14.1" 4:3 version) which doesn't boot
anymore. When I press the power button, nothing happens. Removing
battery and AC, replugging AC, I can see the battery and ac leds flash,
then only AC stays lit, but nothing happens when pressing the power
button.

Reading a bit on the net, the list, various forums etc., it looks that
it might be a dead fuse on the motherboard, or something else. I've
tried to dismantle the laptop and check the fuse, but I didn't really
see anything (though it seems there's a =E2=80=9Cburn smell=E2=80=9D which =
doesn't look
good). I don't know how this happens (as it's not my laptop), except
that it was after a trip in Death Valley, while stored in the trunk
suspended (so temperature may have been high).

Basically it seems the only solution might be to change the system
board, but it seems pretty rare as it's the 42w7872, not the 42w7648
which is a bit older and can only support Penryn cpus while the other
can support Penrym and Merom. The CPU on this box is T7500 which is
Penryn, so it should be ok to use 42w7648 in last measure (is it true?)

Anyway, if someone has a 42w7872 to sell, I might be interested
depending on price and shipment.
