[ltp] W520: strange suspend-to-ram issue solved!

Hi all,

I just wanted to tell you about the solution to a problem that has
plagued me for months.

I have a Sandy Bridge W520 with Optimus. It showed the following
behaviour: You could suspend (S3) it once without a problem, but after
the second try, it would use a lot more power than before AND it wont
run any faster than the lowest possible CPU clocking speed. This
behaviour only went away when I shut down the computer, cut off power
and restarted it.

Yesterday I found the solution to this: Install IronHide and use it to
switch the nVidia Core just on and off once after resume. Not only does
the power consumption go back to normal, but CPU frequency scaling
suddenly starts to work again, too!

Now I have the perfect Notebook, at last - great display, a nice heap of
RAM, up to 6hrs runtime on the stock 9cell and full quad core power when
I need it. No compromises. YAY! :-)

hope this helps anyone who experiences the same issue.

kind regards,
              Fionn
