Try nice combo like Archlinux+SSD+MaxDDR
My T43(dothan2Ghz)+2Gigs+HDD is faster booting than P9xxx+win7(VAIO)
That's my opinion
PS:I gave the T43, look for a T61(p), around 250=E2=82=AC=20
