thinkpad-ec doesn't use any system services, so it depends on the EC
firmware only.

SMAPI depends entirely on the BIOS/EFI, and my best guess is that it will
only break more and more, as apparently the current Lenovo tools don't use
that interface anymore (otherwise they'd not have so much bitrot).
