Did you try to force an SCSI bus rescan using the echo - - - > /sys/... 
trick? --=20 Yves-Alexis

Someone else mentioned a similar "echo {binary nbr} ---> somewhere" that 
would enable or disable reports from hardware buttons and keys

I'm not aware of any such techniques -- tricks or otherwise.
Nor do I find docs or HOWTO.  I suspect that I'm not looking in the 
right places or using the right terms when searching.
