A couple of years ago, I bought a ThinkPad Edge 520 with a 15" display,
which works well.  I don't know what the current model is, but ThinkPads
generally tend to be good for Linux.

Also, you won't find anything new with a 4:3 display.  Everything, TVs,
computers and monitors are going wide screen.  Having used wide screen
for a few years, I wouldn't want to go back.
