Henk,

> My main problem right now is APM: the machine doesn't suspend when the
lid is closed, and when opened my X display goes into a weird sort of
dynamic impressionist painting mode and hangs (sometimes so

What kernel version ? 2.2.5 supported APM correctly without any "undefs"
for me.

On Greg Moulton's page there is a work around for closing the lid. Press
CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to virtual console 1 then close the lid,
after opening the lid again press CTRL-ALT-F7 to return to the XConsole.

Regarding your PCMCIA problems, what version are you using ? I had to go
to 3.0.9 to get my MemCards working and there have been
others who have reported that the update to the latest version also
helped them. I had to play around with the pcmcia scripts to get SCSI
and
MemCard to mount where I wanted it to but apart from that I had no
problems.

Bill.
